One day I was in a book shop and a title called “The 1235 Surrey Eyre” caught my eye.
I thought it might be about a train, but it turns out an Eyre was the name of a circuit travelled by an itinerant judge in England in the Middle Ages. The Eyre involved visits and inspections at irregular intervals of the dwellings of all vassals in the kingdom. So this is my modern Eyre, visiting all grid squares exactly north, south, west and east of my new home grid square SU9033. This sample image is from SU8233, the mighty metropolis which is Conford!
