Westward Ho (20) SU7033

Hi and welcome to my blog

One day I was in a book shop and a title called “The 1235 Surrey Eyre” caught my eye.

I thought it might be about a train, but it turns out an Eyre was  the name of a circuit travelled by an itinerant judge in England in the Middle Ages. The Eyre involved visits and inspections at irregular intervals of the dwellings of all vassals in the kingdom. So this is my modern Eyre, visiting all grid squares exactly north, south, west and east of my new home grid square SU9033. This  image is from my current westwards marker SU7033 and shows a bridge on the old Meon Valley Railway

Now I reached the A32 The light was starting to go, so I turned for home
